Last week, I had the privilege of joining Dragonfly’s Flow & Tell, an intimate circle where entrepreneurs, dreamers, and doers gather to share their stories. Being invited to speak, especially this year—my year of transformation—was both humbling and deeply moving.
As I looked around the circle, I felt grateful. Grateful that I was given space to share my journey, grateful that my story resonated, and grateful that in my vulnerability, others found inspiration, energy, and perhaps a spark for their own path.

The Roots of My Story
My love for food and brand building is something I inherited. My father was an eccentric Italian cook and restaurant owner, while my mother, a Peranakan woman from Singapore, carved her path in advertising and business. Together, they shaped the lens through which I view both creativity and commerce.
That curiosity drove me early—internships, teaching, catering, mentoring, marketing agency stints—I tried everything that excited me. Juggling multiple things at once became my thrill. Later, as I stepped into the role of global brand manager for a mega FMCG brand, I also became a wife and a mother. And still, I pushed myself further: launching a carrot cake delivery service, a YouTube cooking channel, and my chili sauce brand Madame Chilli—all while climbing the corporate ladder and travelling constantly.
The Tipping Point
For a while, I thrived on the chaos. I was proud of being able to deliver, to keep pushing, to still “have it all.” But slowly, the cracks began to show.
My daughters missed me. My marriage felt like it had been reduced to logistics. I missed school shows and recitals. And then came the migraines and hospital stays that forced me to stop and pay attention.
The universe sent me a clear signal one quiet day, sitting in a hospital waiting room in pain, unable to look at my phone, forced into stillness. I realized I couldn’t continue this way. I didn’t want to spend my life building someone else’s brand at the cost of my own health, joy, and family.
The Turning Point
That day, I decided: I must show up for myself first. Prioritizing myself isn’t selfish—it’s the only way I can truly be there for my children, my husband, and the people I love.
So I began crafting my own career portfolio housed under my cooking show name “Homemade Story”
Brand Consultancy – using my superpower of storytelling and strategy to help businesses find their voice.
Mindset & Leadership Training – because our health, wellness, and discipline are the real foundations of success.
House Food Brands – relaunching Madame Chilli and Sassy Cakes, rooted in the comfort of my kitchen and my love for flavor.
A New Rhythm
Since leaving corporate life earlier this year, I’ve leaned into discipline like never before. I built my 15-minute ‘me time’ with 3M daily ritual; Meditation, Movement, Mindset. I timeblock my days, balancing consultancy, exercise, cooking dinners, and most importantly—being present for my daughters.
The irony is, by slowing down, I’ve sped up. Clients came through referrals even before I officially launched. Now, my work is aligned with my values, and my life feels more whole.
A Gentle Reminder
Before I closed my Flow & Tell session, I shared one piece of advice that I’ll leave here too:
“Find time each day to check in with yourself. Ask yourself how you feel, what’s serving you, and what’s not. Then set your intention. With clarity comes confidence, and with confidence comes the courage to create the life you truly want.”
This is what Mom Entrepreneur means to me. It’s not just about running a business—it’s about running your life in alignment with your truth.
